Monroe Township Fire Department

Department Profile

The Monroe Township Fire Department services a total of 68 square miles. The MTFD provides fire suppression, rescue, prevention/inspection, and EMS services to all of Monroe Township including the City of Johnstown. Additionally, the MTFD serves Jersey Township north of Worthington Road, the City of New Albany, Liberty Township (except for the southwest quadrant), and the northeast corner of McKean Township.
Johnstown sits in the northwestern part of Licking County and due to our location we provide mutual aid to many neighboring departments. We provide aid to departments located in Licking County, Franklin County, Delaware County, and Knox County.
The Monroe Township Fire Department responds to approximately 2700 runs each year, of which approximately 80% are EMS and the remainder are fire/rescue responses. The number of responses continues to grow with increases to the population and new commercial development.

ISO ratings for MTFD service areas range from a 2 for areas covered by hydrants, to either an 8b, 9, or 10 for areas not covered by a hydrant. Contact your local insurance provider to determine your specific rating.
